Government and people of Pakistan fully acknowledge the support of China, especially in the social sector of Pakistan.Chairperson of Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP)said this while talking to Liu Jian, Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan, here at BISP Secretariat Thursday who visited to deliver relief goods from All China Women Federation (ACNF) to the flood affected beneficiaries of BISP in Sindh.Farzana Raja while appreciating the support of ACNF to recent flood affectees of Sindh said that China is always first to stand by Pakistan in the hour of need. It should be remembered that ACNF had also sent relief goods for the flood affectees in 2010.Federal Minister and Chairperson BISP said that BISP has emerged as an on organization, which is proving to be a bridge for enhanced Pak-China cooperation in the social sector.She added further that BISP is willing to explore new facets of mutual cooperation with China in the year 2012 as a part of its resolve to benefit the under privileged segments of society.Chairperson BISP appraised visiting Chinese ambassador about the ongoing initiative to promote vocational and technical skills in Pakistan with the collaboration of China Federation for Peace and Development. Under the programme, she said, hundreds of individuals from beneficiary families are being trained as part of graduation scheme of BISP to enable financially vulnerable families to break the vicious circle of poverty on long-term basis.Farzana Raja said that BISP would happily share the data collected through national poverty survey with Chinese organizations that are willing to work in the social welfare projects in Pakistan under their corporate social responsibility.Liu Jian admired the vision and working of BISP for poverty alleviation and underpinned the need of enhanced cooperation between the two countries, especially in the social sector. He said that due to transparency and objectivity of BISP operations, China would not only continue its support for the programme in the forthcoming year but will also like to explore the avenues for further collaboration and cooperation with BISP.
