Summary Foreign Office has said initial analysis shows that the Centcom report is not based on reality.

Giving an overview of Pakistan’s foreign policy during 2011, Foreign Office spokesman Abdul Basit in his weekly briefing said on Thursday, “Pakistan wants good relations with the United States based on mutual respect and dignity” adding that there will be no compromise on national integrity and sovereignty.He however said, Pak-US relations remained tense and experienced ups and down during the current year due to some incidents including Raymond Davis, Abbottabad and the Salala check post attack of November 26.The spokesman said Pakistan adopted a comprehensive foreign policy that enhanced its image among international community.Basit said Parliamentary Committee on National Security is reviewing Pak-US relations and Prime Minister Gilani has said that its recommendations would be presented to joint session of the parliament for final approval on the issue of revisiting the relations with United States.He said Pakistan was elected non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council that indicates its importance in the world.Regarding Pak-China relations, the spokesman said relations with China are of paramount importance in the foreign policy and Pakistan feels proud of its relations with China. Pakistan also gives special importance to its relations with the Muslim countries.He said Pakistan’s relations with the European Union are improving and hoped, trade with these countries will also increase.Replying to a question about death of Pakistanis in East Java Sea, Indonesia when a ship carrying 250 people sunk there on December 18, the spokesman said efforts are being made for identification of the dead bodies but it is very difficult because the bodies have decomposed.The spokesman said Pakistan’s embassy in Jakarta has set up an Emergency Cell which is working round the clock, in coordination with the relevant authorities in Quetta, for identification of the nationality of the deceased.
