Gas crisis: Workers block motorway in Faisalabad

Summary Industrialists and workers staged sit-in and blocked Motorway against gas outage in Faisalabad.

The factory owners and workers held protest demonstrations against gas load shedding in different areas of Faisalabad including Sargodha Road, Sheikhupura Road and Samundari Road.The workers’ rallies reached at the motorway interchange and protested against gas load shedding. The workers parked the vehicle on entry and exit points of the motorway and blocked it for 2 hours.A large number of workers shouted slogans against the government and Sui gas officials for unannounced gas load shedding.The protestors said that load shedding should follow a schedule. They complained that the government had announced to keep the gas load shedding for four days a week but Sui Northern officials are violating the schedule.The protesters said that the situation has gone from bad to worse as productive units have been deprived of gas for a week. In this way, the labourers have become absolutely unemployed and bound to die of starvation.Former textile minister and MNA Rana Farooq Saeed held talks with the protesters and assured them that the load shedding schedule would be prepared during next 24 hours.The protesters dispersed after the assurance of the representatives of the government.
