The court issued a notice on the plea and adjourned the hearing until next Friday
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The federal government has filed a miscellaneous petition in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) for the early disposal of Dr Aafia Siddiqui’s health and repatriation case.
Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan heard the case, where petitioner’s lawyer Advocate Imran Shafiq and Additional Attorney General Munawar Iqbal Duggal appeared.
Dr Fouzia Siddiqui and US attorney Smith joined via video link.
During the hearing, the court questioned the government’s stance on prisoner exchange agreement, citing the recent extradition of ISIS commander Sharifullah to the US.
The judge remarked that while no formal agreement exists, a prisoner was handed over without one.
Expressing dissatisfaction, Justice Ejaz Ishaq Khan criticised the government’s handling, stating that its approach signals reluctance to pursue Aafia’s case effectively.
The court issued a notice on the plea and adjourned the hearing until next Friday.
