The 135th birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah was celebrated on Sunday with national spirit and enthusiasm across the the country.Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on the occasion said that the Parliament was a supreme institution as envisioned by Father of the Nation Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and it was a representative body of the people.Talking to newsmen after visiting the Mazar of Quaid-e-Azam, the Prime Minister said the parliamentary form of government was the best way for accountability.He said that the Quaid-e-Azam did not want a presidential form of government rather he desired a parliamentary system.“I pledge before the Mazar of Quaid that we will respect all institutions and take them along,” he said.He said under the vision of Quaid-e-Azam, the manadate of government, that has been elected by 18 crore people of the country, should be respected.Meanwhile adressing at a seminar organized by Al-Noor Welfare Trust here, Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Mola Bux Chandio said that democracy can be protected by adopting the teachings of Quaid-e-Azam.He said that Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah never believed in geographical, linguistic and sectarian conflicts.Chandio said that the Quaid was a strong believer of democracy.Governor Gilgit-Baltistan Syed Karam Shah said that the present era is not less than its delicacies of Pakistan Movement.He said that Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto tried their best to adopt the teachings of Quaid-e-Azam.In Khyber Pakthunkhwa and FATA,the birth anniversary of Quaid was observed with a renew pledge to strictly adhere to his golden principles of Unity, Faith and Discipline to make Pakistan a stronger, developed and democratic welfare-state.The day dawned with special prayers in mosques for departed soul of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and prosperity and development of Pakistan.A number of political, social, cultural and educational organisations organized different programmes to mark this momentous occasion in a befitting manner.In this connection, a function arranged by old students of Edwards College Peshawar was held where speakers paid glowing tributes to Father of the Nation.
