Summary Christian community in Pakistan celebrated festival of Christmas with religious zeal and enthusiasm.
Like other parts of the globe, the Christian community in Pakistan on Sunday celebrated the holy festival of Christmas with religious zeal and enthusiasm.The day started with special prayers at Churches. Christmas trees were decorated with lights and colourful balls in Christian colonies, outside shopping malls and alongside the important roads.The Christian community in the country renewed their commitments to follow the teachings of the their religion in letter and spirit.Special ceremonies and masses were held in all churches across the country with prayers for peace and stability in the country. Christmas is the day for family reunions. Many Christians traditionally celebrate a midnight mass at midnight on Christmas Eve, marking the beginning of Christmas Day.In Rawalpindi and Islamabad prayers were held at Catholic and Protestant churches. The biggest services were conducted at Catholic Church Lal Kurti and Protestant Church on the Maal Road in Rawalpindi.In Islamabad a prayers service function was held at the Khatoon Fatima Church. Special prayers were offered for the progress, prosperity and solidarity of the country. A large number of people attended the service.In Lahore, Christmas services were held in some 250 city churches, where priests in their sermons urged the participants for complying with the teachings of the Holy Christ and called for integrity, brotherhood and harmony. Special prayers for the progress and prosperity of the country were also offered at all the churches.As usual, two major gatherings were held at the Cathedral-The Mall and Saint Anthony’s-Lawrence Road. Christmas trees and cribs were decorated in almost all houses of the community.
