According to Pakistan Electric Power Company (PEPCO) there is a shortfall of 4,000 MW of electricity as the Sui Northern Gas Pipeline (SNGPL) has shut the supply of gas to four Independent Power Producers (IPPs) while supply of oil has been reduced due to delay in payment of due by PEPCO to PSO.The production of electricity falls to 8,500 MW as PEPCO is facing a shortfall of 4,000 MW. The urban areas are facing up to 10 hours unscheduled loadshedding and rural areas witnessing 14 hours power shutdown.
