The chief Justice has remarked an explanation is required as to why that money was extended in the first place. No one realized that national wealth was ruthlessly wasted. Billions were paid but only 100 megawatts of power was generated, he remarked.The CJ further said that nobody thought before wasting the national wealth and payments were made without any check and balance.He said this was a criminal negligence which would not be allowed in future.Justice KhiljiArif Hussain, in his remarks, said this was not a grocery shop as anybody could not get aware of this situation. Experts can analyze what will happen after 10 years, he said.The Chief Justice said that a 10-year plan is devised while preparing the feasibility report of even small projects but in this case payments of 18 projects was made which reduced to 14 and then 8 which further reduced to 4.PEPCO’s lawyer Khawaja Ahmad Tariq Rahim said that the project should be suspended if it is wastage of poor people’s money.The Chief Justice, upon this, remarked that a poor man cannot afford food for two times a day.
