Pak-Indian FMs expresses optimism ahead of SAARC summit

Summary The foreign ministers of Pak and India said the trust deficit between the 2 countries whittled down.

Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar talked to her Indian counterpart SM Krishna before the SAARC Summit Conference. After the meeting, Khar, agreeing to Krishna, said the atmosphere for the bilateral relations is on upward curve; however, the two countries will have to travel a lot for still better relations.Indian External Affairs Minister S M Krishna said the trust deficit with its neighbor Pakistan was ‘shrinking’ and there was a very positive atmosphere.The heads of governments of the eight SAARC nations, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka would hold summit talks here. But, all eyes are on the meeting between Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani and Dr. Manmohan Singh that comes against the backdrop of positive developments, including Pakistan’s decision on granting the MFN trade status to India.
