Summary Chief Justice said that the Rental Power Projects may be cancelled for lack of transparency.
Supreme Court is reviewing the transparency in Rental Power projects and these projects may be ended if transparency not proved, said Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry while giving remarks during the hearing of RPPs case.Two member bench of Supreme Court led by Chief Justice heard the case of RPPs. The counsel of Naudero Rental Power, Shahid Hamid argued that five out of 19 Rental power Projects were assigned without advertisement which include Naudero I, Naudero II, Techno E PowerI, E Power II and Abbas Steel. However, the federal cabinet approved thsese projects, Shahid said.Chief Justice, in his remarks, said that government should have ensured the transparency in these projects. CJ further said that issuing projects without advertisement is clear violation of procedure.
