Summary Supreme Court says government is not cooperating in missing persons cases.
A game is being played with the apex court, remarked a 3-member bench of SC during the course of hearing of missing persons cases Wednesday.Justice Shakir Ullah Jan presided over the bench.Additional Attorney General KK Agha told the court that intelligence agencies had already said missing persons were not in their custody. Family members of these persons don’t appear before respective Judicial Commission (JC).Justice Jawad Khawaja observed the Deputy Attorney General was playing game with the SC. “We hope on every hearing he will assist the court but it has not been done so far. Commission has been constituted on missing persons but no result has come out.”He further observed if intelligence agencies show ignorance about missing persons then how can we move forward the cases.KK Agha said Commission was recording statements of family members of missing persons to ascertain factual position.Father of a missing person Idrees told the court that his son was taken from Ghora Galli while his friend from Pir Wadhai. Later friend of Idrees was released after one month. He said he would produce all witnesses before commission in this connection.Zohra Bibi, wife of a missing person Fazl Rabbi told the court that her husband was lifted at the behest of a military officer. However Kohsar police was cooperating with her after court’s orders, she said.“There is another court above this worldly court. Those who are not cooperating will have to pay too much. This is test for family members of missing persons and court,” Justice Jawad S Khawaja remarked.Hearing of the case has been adjourned till November 16.
