LHC stops NAB from acting against Sharifs

Summary Lahore High Court has stopped the NAB authorities for taking any action against Sharif family.

Two member Rawalpindi bench of Lahore High Court consisting of Justice Ijazul Hasan and Justice Wahid Khan heard the NAB references against Nawaz Sharif, Shahbaz Sharif and other member of their family.Advocate Akram Sheikh, while arguing in the case, said that these NAB references filed against Sharif family was as iniquitous step from the Musharraf regime in 2000 and references lasting from 11 years were the worst example of political revenge which were used for blackmailing. The court asked that why the accused were not trialed in 2007 while they were in Pakistan.Prosecutor NAB Hanif Tahir, in his repy, said that the controversial appointment of NAB chairman hindered the filing of reference against the Sharifs. The court while stopping NAB from any action against Sharif brothers sought the report in two weeks and adjourned the hearing of the case till November 17.It is pertinent to note that, three references were filed in NAB against Sharif family in 2000 about the assets of Ittefaq Foundry, Hudaibia Paper Mill and Raiwind.
