Summary Health workers staged protests against the non-payment of salaries in different cities of Punjab.

In Lahore, hundreds of lady health workers were protesting on the Mall. The police confined them into Lawrence Garden but the protesting women broke the gate and came out on the Mall causing the traffic jam. The police tried to disperse the protesting women but protesters scuffled with the police. One health worker died while two other fell unconscious during the scuffle. The chief minister Punjab has taken the notice of death of the lady health worker and sought report of the incident.Number of heath workers also gathered in the Ghanta Ghar chowk of Faisalabad. The protesters chanted slogan against the government and staged a sit-in outside the EDO heath’s office. The protesting LHW said that the government has not paid their salaries of four months.In Multan, lady health supervisors staged a sit-in in Nawan Shahr chowk. The protesters said that if government did not paid the salaries then they will boycott the polio vaccination campaign and dengue spray campaign staring from October 24. In Pakpatan, hundreds of lady health workers of National Health Programme staged a sit-in outside the DCO office.
