Kayani visits Karachi to review law and order situation

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani visited the Corps Headquarters Karachi.The COAS was briefed about the law and order and overall security situation of Karachi in detail. The COAS was also briefed on the prevailing flood situation in Sindh and the ongoing rescue and relief efforts being undertaken by the Army.A delegation of notables from the business community of Karachi also called on the COAS and apprised him about their concerns with regards to the effects on business and industrial activities in Karachi.They interacted with COAS for sometime during which COAS expressed his deep concerns over law and order situation of the Metropolis.The COAS also expressed his deep sorrow over loss of many precious lives, and he said that he shared the grievances of kin of the hapless victims. He also informed that the government had full support of Army over the issue.Sources informed that Corps commander Karachi, Lt Gen Zaheer-ul-Islam briefed the Army chief in detail over operations being carried out against target killers, extortionists and other mafia of the City; including the targeted operations of law enforcement agencies.The COAS issued specific directives regarding relief services for flood affecttees in Sindh, stressing full services for masses in this regard.Earlier COAS was received by the Corps Commander Lieutenant General Zaheerul Islam.
