Summary Pakistan has urged the US to share intelligence if it claims Al-Qaeda kingpin is in Pakistan.
Foreign Office spokesperson Tehmina Janjua also hit back at US criticism of Islamabads alleged failure to pursue the Haqqani militant network blamed for this weeks attack on US Embassy in Kabul.US Defence Secretary Leon Panetta and other US officials expressed frustration with Pakistan over its alleged reluctance to target the group.Pakistans Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Tehmina Janjua said on Thursday that Panetta and others were out of line with the cooperation that exists between the two countries in the war against terrorism.Islamabad has resisted attacking the Haqqanis because they do not pose a direct threat to Pakistan.A Pentagon official had said Al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri is still in Pakistan. He said this following the release of a video in which Osama bin Ladens successor blasted the United States.We have no information to indicate that he is anywhere else than in Pakistan, Pentagon spokesman George Little said.But foreign ministry spokeswoman Tehmina Janjua said: It requires cooperation between all the countries concerned. Pakistans cooperation in this regard has been persistent.We have identified our position on all these issues. Pakistan and US are strategic partners and both sides need to discuss all issues in a cooperative manner, she added.
