Summary Dengue fever has claimed four more lives in Lahore, bringing the death toll to 20.

Dengue reaching the epidemic proportions has exposed all tall claims of the Punjab Government that had been stretching thin to control the deadly mosquito. On Wednesday, Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif visited Social Security Hodpital and vowed once again that the dengue virus would be controlled by modern technology imported from the United Kingdom. None the less, the situation has so far not changed a bit for the growing number of patients who are running from pillar to post for tests and medicines.A patient died Wednesday despite treatment at a hospital. Nadeem, resident of New Mazang was shifted to Services Hospital four days back where doctors diagnosed him with dengue. Nadeem could not survive due to reduction of platelets in his blood, medics said.Meanwhile, constable of Punjab Police Mujahid Squad Atta Muhammad also died of dengue. Atta was under treatment at Jinnah Hospital.In another case, a 14-year-old Ali also died of dengue fever. Ali was under treatment at the Children’s Hospital.Moreove, Sharifan Bibi of Nawab Town also lost her life due to dengue fever.A report meanwhile said that another six people have been diagnosed dengue positive in Karachi.
