Summary Shoppers flock to markets as Eid festival draws near.
Large numbers of women and youth have filled shopping areas to finalize purchases before the Eid-ul-Fitr festival.Many business, especially beauty parlors, boutiques, bangle merchants, henna artists, and tailors experience a surge in business.Illuminated shopping malls and products on display are attracting buyers, but many feel that due to internal problems they will not be able to hold a celebration with as much fervor as in the past.One Islamabad resident said, Pakistan is facing a lot of problems including targeted killings, bomb blasts, and floods. There is a lot of inflation as well. We will just have a simple Eid celebration with family members.Prices have gone sky high. We have not seen as many customers at the market compared to last year, said another local.Despite rising inflation and escalated prices of clothing, footwear, and other accessories, Eid shopping has remained an upward trend at local markets.Hundreds of enthusiastic shoppers are heading to markets to prepare for Eid even amidst the current the law and order situation. However, many have stated that they will not forget the suffering of their countrymen and will hold modest Eid celebrations.Stringent security measures have also been brought into effect around and inside markets to help prevent terrorist-related incidents.
