Summary Nine IPPs have threatened to halt power of supply in case of non-payment of circular debt.
IPPs Advisory Council’s Chairman Abdullah Yousaf, while addressing a press conference in Islamabad, said that IPPs circular had reached to Rs 211 billion. The circular debt of HEBCO and KEPCO is Rs 130 billion while the circular debt of other IPPs is Rs 81 billion, he added.He stated that PSO has reached to the sensitive situation that if Circular Debt is not paid, it LC would fall a victim to default.He said that government had injected Rs 10 trillion in power sector but shortfall could not be put to an end, adding that no bank was ready to loan the Power Sector.He warned that if circular debt is not paid, the IPPs would halt the production of 1898 MW.
