Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani has appealed to religious scholars and people to offer special Dua for improvement of situation in Karachi and for progress of the country. In a message on the occasion of “Youm-e-Dua” to be observed on Friday, the Prime Minister said, “I am sure that the government will be able to restore peace in Karachi with the cooperation of the people of Pakistan.”‘Youm-e-Dua’ is being observed today across the country on the appeal of Federal Cabinet. The entire nation will raise their hands in prayer for restoration of peace in Karachi in particular and the motherland in general.The religious scholars will also highlight aspects for improvement of situation in Karachi in their prayers and speeches on the occasion of Juma-tul-Wida.Historically speaking, he said Pakistan came into being in the sacred moments of Laila-tul-Qadr on the Juma-tul-Wida on the 27th of Ramadan. “The people of Pakistan rightly regard the creation of Pakistan as a Divine Gift. Our dear homeland, established in the sacred name of Islam, is the centre of hopes and expectations of the Muslim world. The people of Pakistan also have deep mental and intellectual association with Islam and the Islamic world,” he added.“The recent incidents of Karachi are a matter of immense concern not only for our own people but also for the entire Islamic world, he said and added the spate of terrorism, target killing and law breaking, is adversely impacting upon the national growth.The Prime Minister said it is the firm conviction of the government that it will do everything possible to safeguard national interests, life, dignity, and property of the people.The provincial government of Sindh is taking measures on emergency basis to restore law and order in the metropolis and the Federal Government fully endorses its steps, he added.“It is with this thought in mind that the Federal Government decided to observe the 26th of August as “Youm-e-Dua” at the national level on the sacred occasion of Juma-tul-Wida and make special prayers for peace in Karachi,” the Prime Minister said.
