Summary Deadlock persists between PML-N and PPP on devolution of profitable departments to the provinces.
Some ministries have been devolved under the 18th amendment, and the PML-N has threatened to move the Supreme Court if other departments were not devolved.Minister for Water and Power Naveed Qamar met PML-N senior leader Ishaq Dar and took the plea that implementation commission has transferred 17 ministries and its allied departments to the provinces under the 18th amendment. Had PML-N any objection with regard to devolution of any institution or department it should have raised it on the respective forum before June 30, he said, adding that the federal ministries which were to be merged into provinces now stand dissolved.Ishaq Dar said that over 40 profitable departments have not been devolved to the provinces by the federation. These include several allied departments of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Sports, the Workers Welfare Fund, EOBI, Sheikh Zayed Hospital and other departments. This is sheer breach of 18th amendment, a news agency reported his as saying.Ishaq Dar while apprising federal minister of the reservations of PML-N had made it clear that his party would not sit silent on this matter and would take it at every forum, including the Council for Common Interests.
