Summary Senate Committee for Interior Chairman Talat Mahmood said police performance was poor in Islamabad.

That is why they have called an emergency meeting after Eid to bring betterment in the performance of police and law and order situation in the city.The session of the committee, with Talat Mehmood in the chair, was held in the Parliament House in which the committee was briefed about overall performance of Islamabad police.IG Islamabad Binyamin said that at least 21 incidents of terrorism occurred in Islamabad from 2007 till now; adding that Tehreek-e-Taliban is involved in the murder of Shahbaz Bhatti, then minorities’ minister. Two alleged accused have been arrested in this regard, he claimed.He further said the blast at the Islamic International University has clear cut links with cross-border networks.Talat Mehmood, while talking to the media later, said that performance of Islamabad police was too poor as most of them were posted on same stations for a long time.He said that some affluent persons were having their favourite persons posted in police stations for encroachment of costly land in Islamabad.Senator Talat Mahmood said that new bill would be submitted in the parliament according to which the penalty of lodging a fake and fabricated FIR would be increased to three-year jail from six months.Moreover, the committee would also recommend suspension of the police officials found involved in bogus cases against innocent people, he said.
