Talking to media at Iqbal Town SP office, DIG (Operations) Ghulam Mehmood Dogar that the police officials who attended the American Consular General’s Iftar dinner, did not violated the rules and regulations but they followed Pakistan’s traditions.Ghulam Mehmood Dogar said that American Consular General Karmila Conroy had also invited him but he could not attend the dinner due to official engagements.Defending his colleagues, Dogar said that the police department remains in contact with the Americans regarding security issues.It is worth mentioning that some Punjab police officials had attended the American Consulate’s dinner on Wednesday without informing the government.The officers attending the dinner included Deputy Inspector General (DIG) (Training) Arif Nawaz, Superintendent of Police (SP) (VVIP security) Waqas Hassan, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) (Administration) Tariq Abass, Headquarters SP Romail Akram, SSP Major Nasrullah and Elite Training Director Captain Shehar Yar.IG Punjab has sought expiation from theses officers after the news was aired on Dunya News.
