Summary IRSA has decided to gear up the efforts to fill Tarbela Dam on Sindhs demand.
The Indus River System Authority (IRSA) said that despite filling more water in the dam, both main linking canals of Punjab will not be closed but the power production from Tarbela may fall by 30 percent.Talking to Dunya News in Lahore, the Wapda sources said that the water level in Tarbela Dam has risen up to 1510 feet and IRSA has been given the permission of filling it up to 3 feet on daily basis as per change in dam filling operation.The sources said that Sindh had demanded filling of the dam after closing of link canals of Punjab including Chashma, Jhelum, Taunsa and Panjnad.IRSA has decided to fill the dam up to its maximum capacity 1550 from August 11 without closing the canals.
