Summary Power shortfall has surged to 3,934MW while duration of load shedding increases.
Load shedding has been recorded at 7 to 8 hours in urban areas and 13 to 15 hours in rural areas.As per the statistics of Pakistan Electric Power Company (PEPCO) issued on Saturday, at present the total production of energy is 14,636MW while its demand is 18,570MW.PEPCO sources said that the total production of power being generated through various resources is 5,873MW from hydel power, 1,957MW thermal, 6,569MW IPPs and 137 MW Rental Power Projects, while 770MW is being supplied to Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC).
