The gap between the electricity production and consumption reached 4,285 megawatt.According to Pakistan Electric Power Supply Company, there is a deficit of 4,285 megawatt between the production and consumption of electricity in the country as the production of independent power producers dropped to 6,324 megawatt from 7,000.The citizens got no relief in unscheduled loadshedding in Ramazan.At least nine hours of load shedding in a day is being observed in the urban areas of the country while the people in the rural areas are bearing 12 to 14 hours of power outage.Last week, Pakistan Electric Power Supply Company (PEPCO) Director General (DG) Ejaz Rafiq Qureshi had claimed that there would be no unscheduled loadshedding during the month of Ramadan, sehar and iftar timings would be exempted from power outage.Reducing loadshedding during the month of fasting is PEPCO’s first priority and that there would be no loadshedding during sehar and iftar, the DG said, adding that the operational directors of all distribution companies have been directed to chalk out efficient plans in order to minimise power outages during Ramadan.
