Summary Pakistan Railways has cancelled 25 trains due to scarcity of engines amid depleting stocks of oil
Railway Headquarter Lahore sources said that 25 trains from Lahore, Multan, Peshawar, Narowal, Sama Satta, Rawalpindi, Wazirabad, Sargodha, Kundian, Malikwal and other branch lines have been cancelled due to unavailability of engines. According to sources, on Thursday, passenger trains required 140 engines but could only get 108 whereas goods train could be provided only 8 engines against the demand of 98.On the other side, Pakistan State Oil (PSO) warned PR to pay Rs 880 million at its earliest otherwise oil supply may be suspended. According to railways authorities there is a need of 430,000 liters of oil daily and about 0.6 million liters oil is in stock which can only run the trains for two days.
