Summary NA Secretariat has extended contracts of 9 officers in violation of Supreme Court orders.
Documents acquired by Dunya News reveal that the officials whose tenure has been extended are Secretary Kiramat Niazi, Additional Secretary Ikhlaq Hussain, DG Media Anjum Mughal, Joint Secretary Muhammad Latif Qureshi, Additional Secretary Sadaf Hussain Malik, Joint Secretary Miss Najma Saddiq, Secretary to Speaker Talib Javed, Senior Official Reporter M Tariq Bhatti and Director Kashmir Committee Sultan Ahmed.The Establishment Division had written a letter to the NA secretariat, pointing out the Supreme Court had banned extension of contracts and new appointments on contracts. However, the NA Secretariat replied that the SC ruling didn’t apply to them. The NA Finance Committee comprising MPs recently gave approval to the extensions.The oath-taking ceremony was held on the lawns of the AJK Legislative Assembly. AJK PM Ch Abdul Majeed and PPP Secretary General Jehangir Badr were among a host of dignitaries who attended the ceremony.The ministers who took oath were: Sardar Qamar-uz-Zaman, Ch Latif Akbar, Pervez Ashraf, Mian Abdul Waheed, Ch Ali Shan Soni, Abdul Majid Khan, Akbar Ibrahim, Akhtar Hussain Rabbani, Ch Rasheed, Abduls Salam Butt, Afsar Shahid, Matloob Inqalabi, Ch Arshad, Javed Iqbal Budhanvi, Azhar Gillani, Faisal Mumtaz Rathore and Bazil Naqvi.Sources said two women members – Shazia Akbar and Sadaf Sheikh – were drop from the list at the eleventh hour. Portfolios are likely to be announced tomorrow.
