Summary At least 16 people were killed in different incidents of firing and torture within a day in Karachi.
The firing incidents started in Karachi on Sunday in Khuda Ki Basti area of Sarjani Town where a man was shot dead by some unknown persons. A dead body stuffed in gunny bag was found from Awami Colony in early hours of Monday.Meanwhile, two people were killed in Sector 13, Aziz Millat Ground in Orangi Town and Bukhari Colony. A dead body was found from Liyari Canal.Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon had said in a press conference on July 26 that the old incidents should be ignored and every political party and public should play their role to maintain peace in the city.But Sharjeel’s optimism did not work as violence continued and some unidentified people gunned kerosene oil suppliers Badshah Rehman and Sajad in Sarjani Town, 7-A, after which, situation intensified in Sarjani Town and Khuda Ki Basti and firing continued between two rival groups.On the other side, unknown people set different places and machinery on fire including a marriage hall, motorcycle, car and several street vendor carts, while the law enforcement agencies were absent from the scene.Moreover, a tortured dead body tied in ropes was found from Urdu Bazar.
