According to details, Mufti Shahabud Din Pulezai the prayer leader of the local Ruet-e-Hilal Committee which met at the Qasim Ali Khan Mosque announced the moon sighting saying the committee had received more than 20 eyewitnesses and after carefully listening to their statements the announcement was being made.In the light of these witnesses’ statements, we are observing first Ramazan from Monday, he said. The witnesses were from Peshawar, North Waziristan, Mardan, Mir Ali and other adjacent areas. He said the meeting of the local Ruet-e-Hilal Committee was scheduled for Monday but it had to meet in emergency after receiving the wetness from various parts of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he said. To a question, he said, no member of the government Ruet-e-Hilal Committee contacted them despite the fact that they were invited by the Qasim Khan mosque’s administration to participate in the meeting.
