Summary Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani said tchange in thinking and behaviours vital to end terrorism.
While talking to people of different walks of life, Gilani said that said terrorism was a major threat confronting the country. He said the artistes and playwrights should help the government in ridding the country of extremism, fighting terrorism and making the society tolerent for the prosperous and peaceful country.He said all political forces were united to stand at the same platform to launch military operations in Swat and Malakand. He said the nation had witnessed the success of the operation and thanked the artistes who had come to the fore to help the 2.9 million displaced persons of the area to return to their homes.The Prime Minister said the shortage of the electricity was a major irritant in enhancing industrial output of the country and for its development and progress. Gilani said it was something that the government inherited from the past and those who stayed in power for nine years did little to add to power generation. Gilani recalled the displacement of the 20 million people in the unprecedented floods the country had ever witnessed that caused a loss of US 10 billion dollars.He said the global recession, the high prices of international fuel prices that made it difficult for the government to provide relief to the masses.He said the foreign exchange reserves had risen to 18 million dollars from five million when he took over, remittances have risen to over US 11 billion dollars while exports were at 26 billion dollars. He said the county had moved away from food shortages and was now exporting wheat.
