Summary Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Khursheed Shah has criticized last years Haj policy.

He said had the ministry carried forward the last year’s policy, the people would have pelted it with tomatoes.Briefing the NA Standing Committee, the minister said Haj demands much physical endurance and those who could sustain the rigours of travel should go for pilgrimage. He said the pilgrims would be allotted residence and Maktab numbers by August 1.On the occasion, the secretary religious Affairs said residences have been arranged for 75,000 pilgrims while 90,000 more would be procured in time. The Standing Committee expressed concern over building of Pakistan House at a greater distance from the Haram.
