Summary Kohala Power Project, allegedly given to a Chinese company without tender, took new turn.
The letters, written by two ex-PMs of AJK Raja Farooq Haider and Sardar Attique to PM Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, made the issue more complicated.Raja Farooq had opposed handing over of the project to the Chinese company through a letter written on July 5, 2010 and suggested awarding it to WAPDA.However, Sardar Attique wrote a letter to PM Gilani on March 3, 2011 and suggested handing over the project to the Chinese company.Later, the Economic Coordination Council awarded the project to the Chinese company on June 30.It is worth mentioning that WAPDA had offered to complete this project in Rs 30 billion less than the prescribed rate, but its offer was rejected.
