Summary The Sindh government has taken charge of 19 portfolios shifted from the federal government.
After passage of 18th Amendment and abolition of Concurrent List, 19 ministries and divisions have been dissolved and their assets, employees and resources have been shifted to the provinces.The ministries of these portfolios have been dissolved but the standing committees are still functioning.The largest health centre of the province Jinnah Hospital and National Institute of Child Health have also been shifted to the provinces.Sindh has gained many benefits due to shifting of portfolios to the provinces; however, differences prevail between the federal government and the province on shifting of assets.In the last phase, portfolios including environment, minority affairs, women’s development, sport, health, food and agriculture and labour and manpower have been shifted to the provinces.The Sindh government is celebrating July 1 as the Autonomy Day after shifting of the portfolios to the provinces.
