ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The National Commission for Missing Persons has disposed of 4782 cases by November 30, Dunya News reported on Wednesday.

According to a report released by the Commission, 23 new cases were received by the Commission during October 2020, bringing the total number of cases related to enforced disappearances to 6,854. Of these cases, the National Commission disposed of a total of 4,782 cases by November 30, 2020.

At present, the number of missing persons is 2,072, which is a great achievement for the Commission. It is further working on collecting information about the remaining missing persons.

Further hearings in the Commission will be conducted in accordance with the law after reviewing the lockdown policies of the federal and concerned provincial government. This is to ensure all safety measures are followed in order to prevent spread of the virus.

The report said that Justice Javed Iqbal, Chairman of the National Commission and other esteemed members not only personally listened to the views of missing persons’ families but also worked tirelessly to ensure their safe return home.
