Summary Ministry of Health to set up more isolation centers to combat deadly second wave
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The Ministry of Health has decided to set up more isolation centers in view of the second wave of coronavirus. A letter has been sent to Prime Minister Imran Khan in this regard.
According to sources, in the letter, the Ministry of National Health has asked for additional funds of Rs 590 million, which would make 150 extra beds available for patients in isolation centers.
It said that in view of the worsening situation, the capacity of the isolation hospitals needs to be increased from 50 to 100 beds, for which funds of Rs 540 million are required. A 100-bed isolation center will also be set up at the Federal General Hospital (FGH).
The Ministry of Health wrote that there is a need to improve medical facilities in FGH. In this regard, National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) will provide medical equipment for FGH. The Ministry of Health has proposed to send the summary of the technical grant to the ECC.
