The Muzaffarabad High Court (MHC) on Saturday postponed polls in three constituencies -- two in Karachi and one in Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa (LA 30, LA 36 and LA 41). Polls have been postponed in the two Karachi constituencies on security concerns while there were objections to 300 votes in KPK for LA 41, which could not be immediately removed due to time constraint.391 candidates are in the run for 39 seats out of the 49 assembly seats, as eight seats are reserved for women and technocrats and polls on three has been cancelled.113 contestants are running for 9 constituencies spreading over four provinces of Pakistan, reserved for refugees and other Kashmiris.According to the final list issued by EC, the total number of voters is 2,935,845. Some 5,312 polling stations have been set up with 6,448 booths. The parties in the run are the PML-N, PPP, Muslim Conference and JI. The MQM has announced boycott of the lections while a neck-and-neck contest is expected between PML-N and Muslim Conference. Punjab police and Rangers are assisting the AJK police for security.
