LAHORE (Dunya News) - The government has rejected the resolution of the opposition against the increase in the prices of medicines in the province by a majority vote in the session of Punjab Assembly.

According to details, the meeting of Punjab Assembly was chaired by Deputy Speaker Sardar Dost Muhammad Mazari.

Echoes of arrests of opposition party workers were heard in the Punjab Assembly session. Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Hassan Murtaza demanded registration of a case against the police.

PPP parliamentary leader Hassan Murtaza strongly condemned the arrest of PPP workers before the Gujranwala rally.

Hassan Murtaza also lashed out at the law minister s ignorance over the arrest of Abid Malhi, the main accused in the rape case.

PML-N s Aneeza Fatima s resolution against increase in drug prices was rejected by the government on the basis of majority vote.

Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid told the House that the government was spending Rs32 billion on medicines. Upon completion of the agenda, the Deputy Speaker adjourned the meeting indefinitely.
