Summary An increase in electricity demand has intensified the power crisis in the country.
According to Pakistan Electric Power Company (PEPCO), the country is generating 13,400 megawatt of electricity while the current demand is 18,000 megawatt, leaving a power deficit of 4,600 megawatt.The dispute between the administration and workers of the Karachi Electric Supply Cooperation was yet to be resolved and line faults in various areas of Karachi could not be repaired. There is no electricity in many areas of the city for many days.The constant interruption of electricity in Multan made life difficult for people. Though the electricity shortfall of Multan Electronic Power Company shrank to 575 megawatt, the citizens have to bear a power outage of up to 12 hours.The unscheduled electricity load shedding in Gujranwala has been increased and the power has been suspended for 14 hours a day in the region.
