Summary Out-patient departments in all government hospitals remain closed across the country on Wednesday.

The out-patient departments (OPDs) in all major hospitals in Lahore have been shut down on the call of Young Doctors Association to protest against manhandling of doctors in Quetta by police.Patients in OPDs are suffering as doctors are not attending them. However, patients in Emergency are getting doctors’ attention.In Quetta, the Civil Hospital doctors have set up tents to check the emergency patients. On the other hand, despite the order of the government, none of the fresh doctors has reported to the hospitals so far.In Peshawar, doctors in Leady Reading Hospital, Khyber Teaching Hospital and Hayatabad Medical Complex observed a token strike. Out-patient departments in all hospitals were shut down for two hours.In Karachi, doctors are working in hospitals by wearing black armbands to show solidarity with their colleagues. They were of the view that they could not participate in the protest due to current law and order situation in the city.
