Summary At least 19 people have been killed in two days of violence that has gripped Karachi in fear.
The Singh Government has ordered the Police and Rangers to take action without discrimination against the criminals who were causing a breakdown of law and order in the city.The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) delegation and Awami National Party (ANP) Sindh Delegation met with the Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan after both the parties accused each other for the recent violence in Karachi.The MQM delegation led by Raza Haroon consisted of Hamad Siddique and Wasim Aftab while the ANP delegation led by its provincial chief Shahi Syed consisted of Basher Jan, Rana Gul Afridi along with several others.Both MQM and ANP condemned the recent violence in Karachi and vowed to work in collaboration to prevent further incidents. During the meeting, Sindh Governor also contacted the President.The coordination committee meeting would be held on Wednesday and a Pakistan people’s party delegation would also participate in the meeting. According to the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan, a total of 748 people including 447 political activists and the rest innocent citizens have been killed in targeted shootings last year. Targeted killings in 2009 claimed 272 lives.
