Summary US officials are holding talks with the military rather than the political leadership in Pakistan.

In an interview, Chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, Mike Rogers said that during his recent visit to Pakistan, he met with the Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani and director General Inter-services Intelligence Lieutenant-General Ahmad Shuja Pasha. Rogers said that both are aware of the sensitivity of the situation. Mike Rogers said that the time had come to put pressure on Pakistan to take steps against terrorism. He said that Pakistan would have to give the US access to the detained Al-Qaeda and Taliban members. Mike Rogers said that the US officials were holding talks with the military rather than the political leadership.Mike Rogers said that if Pakistan wants to be an ally of the United States then they would have to meet the demands of the US.
