Summary Gastroenteritis and diarrhoea multiplied in Rawalpindi and Islamabad with rise in temperature.
A sharp rise in number of patients, suffering from epidemic, was reported in different hospitals of Islamabad and Rawalpindi. According to reports, more than 10,000 gastroenteritis and diarrhoea patients have been treated at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) and Poly Clinic Hospital during the current month. While hundreds of people, affected by the epidemic, were brought to hospitals during this week.Health officials and medical experts said that the increase in temperature causes food to decay and use of such food was the main factor behind the spread of this disease.Thousands of people fall victim to stomach diseases every year. Medical experts said that gastroenteritis and diarrhoea could be avoided with use of clean water and fresh healthy food.
