Summary The Pentagon said that the United States is reducing the number of US troops present in Pakistan.
In an email send to the media, Pentagon spokesperson Col. Dave Lapan said that these steps were taken after formal letter request was made from Islamabad.He said that after the US operation in Abbottabad in which Osama Bin Laden was assassinated, tension surfaced between the two countries after which the Pakistan government gave the Us a written notice in which a request was made to reduce the presence of Us troops in Pakistan.On the other hand, members of US Congress wrote to President Obama and emphasized him to review the government’s policy on the Afghan war. They stated that after the death of Osama Bin Laden, there was no need to keep a large number of troops in Afghanistan.
