Summary Due to insufficient supply of furnace oil, overall power production has been curtailed by 2,380 MW.

Due to insufficient supply of furnace oil to PEPCO and other private power companies, 2380 MW less electricity is being produced. According to PEPCO sources, PSO was paid Rs 120 billion during last few days, but it supplied only 13,000 tonnes furnace oil, instead of 31,000 tonnes, to Kot Addu Power Plant, Karachi’s Rental Power Plant, Saba Power Plant and other power plants. Due to this, overall production has been curtailed by 2,380 MW. According to sources, Chashma Nuclear Power Plant-2 is also closed due to technical fault while Faisalabad power plant could not start working due to unavailability of gas. On the other hand, PSO’s two new ships, carrying furnace oil, have been landed at Karachi port and 26,000 tonnes of furnace oil would be provided to power plants.
