Protests against persistent load shedding continued in the country as Pakistan Electric Power Company (Private) Limited (PEPCO) has said that the country is facing a shortfall of 5800 megawatts.According to PEPCO, the production of electricity is 12,394 megawatts against a demand of 18,183 megawatts. The shortfall increased people’s miseries as load shedding durations shot up in different parts of the country. People experiencing a 14 hour load shedding in urban areas and 18 hour in rural areas.People in Balochistan are experiencing up to 16 hours of load shedding. Meanwhile, people in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are facing hardships due to 4-hour on the trot load shedding. In Lahore people and traders staged protest against long hours of load shedding. Multan and its adjacent areas are facing 16 hours of power outage.Meanwhile, industries in Faisalabad stopped work due to 18 hour load sheding, rendering thousands of workers jobless.
