Summary The Pakistan Electric Power Companys system failed to meet the demand of 18,000 Megawatts.
The electricity demand went up to 18,000 megawatts while the shortfall increased up to 6,000 Megawatts. The increase in shortfall left the disrupted the load shedding schedule devised by distribution companies as people protested against the escalated load shedding hours even at night. According to source, due to a system overload, unannounced and unscheduled load shedding was being administered from the national power control centre in Islamabad. As a result in Lahore, electricity supply remained suspended throughout the night in Johar town, Wapda Town, PIA society, Sandha, Ghari Sahu, Multan Road and Mazong along with several other areas. Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) officials rather than registering the complaints refused to answer the telephones.
