Summary The patients in Quetta and Peshawar are suffering due to the strike of Young Doctors Association.
The doctors in Khyber Teaching Hospital, Peshawar, continued their strike on Wednesday. They doctors are demanding salary raise.The patients, coming to Peshawar from far flung areas of the province to get medical treatment, are facing great difficulties due to the strike. Quetta Young Doctors Association (YDA) had also stopped working in evening and night shifts.The Quetta YDA has been protesting for more than 40 days for salary increase but the government did not heed to their demands. Now the doctors have decided that house officers, medical officers, post graduates and junior registrars would only work in morning shift until the acceptance of their demands.The doctors demanded that the government should raise their salaries as the federal government did for the doctors working in the hospitals fell under the administration of the federal government.
