A US paper wrote that former US special envoy for Pakistan and Afghanistan Richard Hallbroke was an advocate for Pakistan and Iran’s inclusion for maintaining peace in Afghanistan. He used to consider that stable Pakistan was necessary to strengthen peace in Afghanistan. Hallbroke believed that solution of Kashmir dispute was necessary to eliminate extremism from Pakistan and wanted the US should use its influence in this regard.According to the paper, he opposed increase in the US troops in Afghanistan, saying that a larger military operation was a hurdle in the peace process and it could create another Vietnam for the US.
