Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has said that the Bhutto case is not being reviewed but the court is only looking to answer the questions of law forwarded by the president. The court would limit to its opinion, he said.Counsel for the federal government, Babar Awan, on Thursday submitted that a written document in the record suggested that Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto was killed before he was hanged.An 11-member Supreme Court bench was hearing the Bhutto reference case. During the hearing, the CJP remarked that the court knew it was not the case of a common man. Even a street child knows who Bhutto is, the CJP said. The CJP also advised Awan to contain his arguments within the parameters of the reference.Awan said that Bhutto had expressed his desire to audio record his statement, but his request had been rejected.Justice Sair Ali said had the bench entangled in technicalities, the Bhutto reference case would have been finished in hours.Separately, the Punjab advocate general could not produce Bhutto case record from the Ichhra police. The attorney general was advised to produce the record of railway police blast as the Bhutto case was also linked with it. The hearing has been adjourned until Monday.
