Summary Non-state parties counter-productive to the cause of Kashmir movement
Formal schedule of Azad Kashmir polls for 49 seats of the legislative assembly will be released in the middle of May.All Jammu Muslim Conference, People’s Party, Jamaat Islami and Muslim League-N will take part in the elections. Azad Kashmir Prime Minister Sardar Atique has expressed his reservations over the non-state parties, adding their presence is counter-productive to the cause of the Kashmir movement. The Election Commission has sought the proposals from all the political parties to ensure the polls. Out of 49, 12 members are elected by the Kashmiri settlers in four provinces. Chief election commissioner Azad Kashmir has said the help of the federal and provincial governments will be sought for free and fair polls.
